Our Security Policy and Security Advises

Our aim is to provide a secure environment for providing and collecting information for and from our customers. To reach that goal we have installed a SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificate with up to 256 bits encryption (the strongest encryption available).

This means that all personal details sent when making a booking request, and for making the initial payment, are 100% encrypted and safe.

To verify that you that the booking-/payment-information is sent on a secure connection, please doubleclick the padlock Padlock in the lower right corner of your browser.

This make our website totally safe to use, provided that you are running an updated browser and have security installed on your computer. If you have no idea what we are talking about in this paragraph, we will walk you through securing your computer in 3 easy steps:

Choosing a secure browser

The first advise, no matter if you have a MAC computer or Windows computer: Do not use Microsoft Internet Explorer!

Why? Because it's the most widely used browser (with a market share of about 70%), it's also the browser most frequently attacked by hackers and virus makers.

We use Internet Explorer for one purpose only, to test that our pages display correctly when we design our websites. 99% of the time we use either Mozilla Firefox or Opera as preferred browsers.

Why? Because they are both more secure, and even when flaws are discovered, fixes appear much faster from their developers than from Microsoft!

The advantages with Mozilla Firefox (market share of about 15%):

The advantages with Opera Web Browser (market share of about 2%):

We have been using Mozilla Firefox as our preferred browser ever since it was launched.

Review of all the biggest browsers can be found on CNET.com.

Virus Program

The disadvantage with virus programs is that the best ones cost money, but if you don't want viruses to crash or destroy your files or even your whole computer, you're better off choosing a good one.

For both virus control and firewall, we have been using Norton Internet Security for years, but there are cheaper alternatives like F-Secure or McAfee. Check them out before you initially decide which one to use, they all come with limited free trial.

Spyware Program

As to Spyware we have been using several programs, but we have ended up with Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition, which actually is free for personal use!

To Sum It Up

Our website has been secured using the best technology available, but that doesn't help if you're using it with an insecure computer:

  1. Do consider switching to another browser than Internet Explorer!
  2. Use virus control, it pays off in the long run!
  3. If you're on a broadband or ADSL connection, a Firewall is highly recommended!
  4. Protect your computer and personal information by using a program to detect and remove spyware.
